Episode #18 Ski With Dee….and More (featuring Dee Doiron)
Show notes:
During a sun break at the top of Crystal Mountain, WA, a gaggle of friends and family, and views of Mt. Rainier and the Cascade Range loom large!
For those of us fortunate enough to live near the mountains and have the wherewithal to ski, going to the slopes remains an exhilarating way to endure a long, grey, rainy winter in the PNW.
Today’s guest, tells us about her nearly 50 years in a row of running a ski bus, making lifetime friends, and sharing the mountain experience.
She shows us that every person we meet carries the possibility of sprouting a relationship that could grow into one of deep, rich, and meaningful connection. And, one of which gives us pause to wonder what life would be like without their presence.
Our friends breathe life into our spirits and comfort the spaces between the rough edges of our insecurities, and bear witness and validate the significant and insignificant events we experience, joy filled or grief filled. They show up to our weddings, graduations, birthdays, and funerals, and to our soccer games, concerts, science fairs, and fundraisers. And sometimes, they show up to the births of our children.
I am grateful to our next guest for the last 20 years of friendship, her generosity, her filling our lives and the lives of others with her kind spirit, adventure, love, and support.
Dee Doiron, age 83, talks about fun with friends, 50 years running a ski bus, volunteering with Americorps, grieving the loss of loved ones, and about showing up. Dee shares some stories of her life of living through highs and lows, and provides her advice to youth on navigating life and setting one’s self up for success.
I’m snow plowing to Introduce Dee Doiron.
Post Show Notes: I loved talking with Dee. Dee has a magnificent youthful spirit, with the wisdom of yoda. Skiing at age 83 along with her 80 and 90 something friends, inspires a life well lived. I appreciated her willingness to talk about grieving difficult loss of family, and for talking about persevering. Dee is a class act!
